The Raw Extremities

Melodrama is described as a sensational dramatic piece with exaggerated characters and exciting events intended to appeal to the emotions. I used to call my portfolio in art class “The Raw Extremities” for lack of better words. However, I am beginning to reconsider the title after seeing this month’s submission topic. Perhaps “Melodrama” is a better title, considering I won’t have to explain it every time. My name is Clarissa Ellinger, I am 18 years old and from Marietta, Georgia. “The Raw Extremities” are essentially the dramatic emotions one can encounter throughout life. These feelings are not simply happy or sad, but have increased depth. I chose to do emotions you can physically feel, such as melancholy or lust. As my portfolio continues to grow, I am repeatedly reminded of just how many emotions I consider raw, and I find myself questioning whether or not that varies from person to person. Am I melodramatic, or just human?
