Take Time to Create

This is a strange time for all of us, and I feel like this year has been a tough one for me so far. But although self isolation can sometimes be draining, I’ve been really inspired to create. I decided to take this month's theme “Isolation” and use it to inspire people to create, read, or write and take that passion you have for something to make it happen with all the free time we have now. Use it to create that piece of artwork, read that book you’ve always said you wanted to, or write that piece of poetry that's been in your head for awhile—just do it ! I have been taking my own advice and making collages and painting and reading. I feel like creativity in times like these are necessary to keep us busy and also for our mental health. At the start of this year, I stopped creating pieces because I guess life really got me. I realized that I felt worse when I stopped, and I was pushing away the very thing that got me through the darkest of days and what allowed me to escape whatever was happening. Through this strange time, I encourage everyone—not just creatives—to create. Even if you're not creative, pick up that paint brush and paint. It helps to bring some calm into your life even though it might seem hard right now. Although we are all isolated from each other, it doesn’t mean we have to be isolated from ourselves.
