Oregon born AUSTN broke into the music scene with the release of his debut appropriately titled, Chapter 1: In Betweenin’, in 2019 and the title track has garnered almost fifty million streams on Spotify. Now, AUSTN is preparing to release his sophomore record, with the newest single, Take It All Back coming out May 15th.

The seventeen year old, who underwent surgeries to correct his hearing problems as a child, moved to Los Angeles to pursue his music, quickly finding management before the release of his first EP in May 2019. This record landed him a coveted spot on Apple Music and Spotify playlists, as well as a feature on Amazon Music’s 2019 Artists To Watch.

While his first record mirrors the style of a young Greyson Chance or Justin Bieber, Take It All Back is a more mature approach, discussing the regret of a breakup. The modern pop tune features dreamy instrumentation with a catchy hook that makes listener’s want to dance. Though this song stems from AUSTN’s experiences with a breakup, it’s hard not to bob your head and sing along. The lyrics are something that anyone who has ever gone through a breakup can relate to, highlighting the feeling after a fresh split and reminiscing on good memories.

“Can we take it all back, take it all back, back to you next to me. Miss what we had, fallin’ down fast, lost in your gravity” - AUSTN (Take It All Back)

In the chorus of his newest release, AUSTN sings about wanting to go back to a time when he was still in his past relationship. His lyrics mirror something that I’m sure many of us have experienced before, the regret of losing someone who at one time was so important. It’s not often that pop songs touch on this aspect of a lost love rather than the sadness that comes with it, but it’s nice to know that we aren’t alone in these feelings. Pop stars like AUSTN feel like this too.

It’s refreshing to hear a pop musician in this day and age discuss the reality of a breakup. It’s not always grief, but often regret. AUSTN’s music often highlights the parts of a relationship we don’t hear in other pop music. So, if you want to hear more, make sure to check out AUSTN’s newest single, Take It All Back on all streaming platforms May 15th and his sophomore EP when it comes out later this month!

“At this point in my life I’m becoming an adult and having to deal with real-life feelings and relationships, so these songs represent my honest thoughts about things I’ve been through—both good and bad” - AUSTN
